Maple Pecan Scones

​Recipe:  Maple Pecan Scones

Ingredients

1/2 tsp salt
3 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
​1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 butter, chilled and cubed
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 egg
3/4 cup half and half

Frosting:

2 cups confectioners sugar
2 Tbsp milk
2 Tbsp butter, softened
pinch of salt
1 tsp maple extract


Set oven to 350F.

Combine dry ingredients (salt, flour and sugar) in a large bowl.

Cut in butter (with a pastry blender, 2 forks or your hands) until dry mixture is crumbly.

Add in pecans and mix.

Mix egg and half and half in a small bowl, and add to the dry mixture taking care not to over mix. 

Pat out dough (it will be a bit crumbly) into a 3/4 inch high circle on a prepared baking pan. Score the top into 8 wedges.

Bake at 350F for about 20-25 minutes.

Allow the scones to cool before frosting.

To make frosting: Cream together all ingredients.
