Recipe: Hungarian Letcho
This is a great way to stretch a couple of chicken breasts or pork chops. Leftovers work well too. We call it Letcho, although its definitely identical to the traditional dish. It is fast, easy and very flavorful though, and perfect for a homecooked family meal or company. I've been asked for the recipe many times, and they're always surprised.
Ingredients 2 green peppers 1 onion 2 tomatoes 4 pork chops or 2 chicken breasts 1 small bottle ketchup (10 -14 oz) ½ cup water 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp brown sugar Instructions Cut up meat into thin strips. Fry pork chops (or chicken) in a little oil. Take out when browned and set aside. Chop onion and peppers into strips. Cut tomatoes into 1/8ths. In the same pan, saute vegetables together until softened. Add meat back to vegetables. Add ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Stir and then simmer for about one hours. Add salt and pepper to taste, and serve over rice. |
