MY THINGS TO DO JAR

I am a list maker. I have books of lists. I also can never find the book I wrote the lists in when I am done with it. My Man just rolls his eyes everytime he sees me with pen and paper.

I have a ton of things that I want to accomplish this year, and so, I made a list, which, of course I cannot find. This is very frustrating for me....but apparantly very entertaining for my family to watch as I try to find it.

I had so much on that list, it probably is best that it went missing. I get easily overwhelmed with all I want to do, I don't know where to start and so, eventually I shut down and nothing gets done, or worse, I will start several things at once and get bogged down.

I was talking to Mama K about this problem of mine and she suggested that I write everything I want to do on slips of paper and put it in a jar. Then I can just draw out a slip of paper when I want to start a new project. I thought that was such a great idea! I found two empty canning jars and am in the process of filling them with the things I want to do. I chose to divide my list between things for sunny days, (ie - gardening ideas, etc) and things for inside. I am including a few chore-oriented ones as well in my jars of contentment. I am excited to get them filled and get started on the projects in there!!!

Here are some of the things in my inside jar:

Sew an apron for Tim
Embellish socks for a granddaughter
Make dried apple ornaments
Sew an 18 inch doll outfit for Joey's Maplea doll
Quilt a snowman wall hanging
Make a Christmas stocking for My Man
Make yo-yo "icicles"
Scherenschnite Nativity Scene
Sew a comfy cushion
Sew watermelon placemats and napkins
Recycle tin cans into luminaries for Halloween
Recycle tin cans into luminaries for Christmas
Knit a pair of mittens for a grandbaby
Sew an 18 inch doll outfit for Lizzie's American Girl doll
Redwork welcome pillow
Make a rag doll
Recycle a pair of jeans into an apron
Sew myself a skirt
Make Bella/Freya/Sammi a pillowcase dress
Make a steampunk fascinator
Sew a Christmas apron
Knit/crochet a dishcloth bundle
Paint/draw a picture
Make sock monkeys
Make a quilt for our bed
Make pillowcases

Some of the things in my outdoor jar:

make new cushions for the patio furniture
Paint my wicker rocking chair
Turn an old chair into a succulent garden
Paint the dresser and shelves for the kitchen
Build a garden bench out of our old four poster bed
Make a fairy castle
Make a fairy garden
Plant a hanging "salad" basket
Build a raised garden bed
Rearrange the deck
Paint the deck
Paint the bbq stand
Build a set of shelves out of cement blocks and wood planks
Plant another herb garden
Plant a strawberry garden
Turn an old floor lamp into a plant stand

There will be a lot of seasonal stuff mixed in throughout the year, but that's okay. I don't mind making Halloween things at Easter time, or Christmas things at anytime. Lots of gifts will be made and I just might get to finally finish the Christmas apron I started 5 years ago!!

I just might start a baking jar for my kitchen. I have so many recipes I want to try and never know where to start!

Enjoy your day!
